Add/Remove Search Button from iPhone Home Screen in iOS 16
No matter how cool a feature may be, it may not be able to impress all users. That’s the reason why it is better to have the flexibility to go back and forth depending on your needs.
- On your iPhone running iOS 16 or later, open the Settings app.
- Now, scroll down to find the Home Screen option and tap on it.
- Finally, turn off the toggle next to Show on Home that shows under the Search section. That’s done! The search button will immediately disappear from the Home Screen on your iOS device. Get out of the Settings to see the change. Of course, if you ever decide to revert the change or return to the default option, just go back to the Home Screen setting again and then turn on the same toggle. My Thoughts: Apple’s Search Engine Could Arrive in Near Future
The search button has long been a notable Android feature. What makes it a super handy feature is the ability to speed up your search. Instead of opening a browser and then entering your search queries, you can directly tap on the search button and then get on with searching. Not to mention, the integrated microphone button that allows you to input the search queries through your voice further accelerates your searching. Till iOS 15, the Spotlight Search button was hidden and you had to swipe down from the middle of the screen to bring it up. But now, Apple has decided to put this hidden button on the forefront. As someone who has followed Apple for more than a decade, I can sense a larger picture of this subtle change. And if my instinct holds true, Apple’s Google Search engine rival could arrive much earlier than many Apple analysts believe. After all, the Cupertino giant does not do anything without a significant reason. What do you think? Be sure to share your thoughts about this Android-inspired feature that has made its way into iOS – for better or worse.
