The LG 55UK6300PUE has a 4K resolution display and supports HDR. In addition to that, the LG 55UK6300PUE runs on WebOS version 3, which is smooth and user-friendly. When it comes to cost, LG has been quite generous with the price of the UK6300PUE TVs, and the 55-inch model is not left out. From the few features of this TV that I have highlighted here, you might love this TV already. However, if you are willing to learn about everything else, you are about to find out.

LG 55UK6300PUE Design, Dimension, and Weight Review

The LG 55UK6300PUE has a basic design that won’t make it a point of attraction in a room. However, the design is functional. The bezels surrounding the TV display are made of plastic and measure an inch. On the bottom bezel, you will find an LG logo which indicates a sign of trademark. Furthermore, at the bottom of the LG 55UK6300PUE, there is a pair of inverted V-shaped stands that are almost as wide as the TV. The stands provide adequate support for the TV and give it sufficient stability. Due to the width of the stands, you will require a wide table to place the TV on. The stands are also made of plastic and have a glossy black finish. Over to the rear of the TV, there are inputs to connect devices to the TV on two input panels. Some of the inputs are on the side of the TV, while others are on the back. However, the inputs located at the back might be difficult to access if the TV is hung on the wall. Meanwhile, the input ports located at the side of the TV will be easily accessible when the TV is hung on the wall. The Samsung UN55RU8000FXZA has an overall dimension of 1236.9 x 58.4 x 713.7 mm (W x D x H). When it comes to its weight, the LG 55UK6300PUE weighs 13698.4 g. However, it is lighter than the two 55-inch TVs I compared it with. Specifically, it is lighter than the Samsung UN55RU8000FXZ, and LG SK8000PVA, which weigh 19096.2 g and 17599.3 g, respectively. Before I round up this section, it is important to mention that this TV does not have a cable management system which is quite disappointing. Due to the absence of a cable management system, cables connected to the TV might be disorganized. In summary, the bezels, stands, and backplate of this TV are all made of plastic that feels cheap. Some of the input ports on the back of the TV are also difficult to access when the TV is hung on the wall. Finally, there is no form of cable management system on this TV. Putting all these together, I will be rating this TV a seven in this section of the review.

LG 55UK6300PUE Display Features and Picture Quality Review

Away from the design aspects of the TV, let us talk about its display features. Starting with the screen size, this TV has a diagonal length of 55 inches. The display also has an outstanding 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution with a 60Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the 4K resolution, the display quality is four times better than you will get from an FHD resolution display. Meanwhile, for the refresh rate stated above, it implies that the display will refresh images 60 times in a second. Although some TVs have a faster refresh rate which means faster and smoother display performance, the 60 Hz refresh rate is still decent. More impressively, this TV features the TruMotion 120 which doubles the refresh rate of the display. This will deliver a smoother and faster update of the images on the display. Furthermore, the display of this TV uses an IPS (In-plane Switching) panel. Unfortunately, just like most IPS TVs, the LG 55UK6300PUE has a poor contrast ratio. Speaking of which, this TV’s contrast ratio is 1096:1. If you don’t know what contrast ratio means, it is the ratio of blacks and whites a TV display can produce. Therefore, a good contrast ratio will produce a good difference between the bright and dark regions of the display content, which is good. Also, a good contrast ratio means that the dark regions will be true blacks. However, due to the poor contrast ratio of this TV, dark regions will have a gray shade and not true blacks. Also, just like most budget IPS TVs, the LG 55UK6300PUE lacks a local dimming feature. This means it can’t dim areas of the backlight which is important for producing darker scenes that make them more interesting to watch. Due to its lack of local dimming, the dark scenes in movies will not look very dark. As if that is not enough drawback, the display brightness of this TV is also very disappointing. Speaking of which, the maximum display brightness of the LG 55UK6300PUE is191 nits, which is not enough to combat glare in a bright room. Let us proceed to the reflection handling ability of the LG 55UK6300PUE. In that regard, this TV’s display has a semi-glossy coating that absorbs and reduces the intensity of indirect light reflections. However, it doesn’t handle reflections perfectly, as it can still get overwhelmed by reflections from direct light sources. When it comes to viewing angles, the display of this TV handles that well, thanks to its IPS panel. Basically, IPS TVs have better viewing angles than VA (vertical alignment) TVs. Another impressive display feature of this TV is its 4K Active HDR feature which allows the TV to produce life-like HDR content. In addition to that, this TV also supports some HDR formats that allow the display to produce enough brightness and deepen the contrast of the TV. Speaking of HDR formats, this TV supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG. Hence, when you watch Netflix videos and other HDR content, the images will be colorful and sharp. Furthermore, the LG 55UK6300PUE can upscale video content from HD resolution to 4K resolution. Let us proceed to the motion handling ability of this TV by starting with its response time. Impressively, the response time of the LG 55UK6300PUE is fast. Precisely, the LG 55UK6300PUE responds to color changes in 15.0 milliseconds. Therefore, only a short blur trail can be seen when you view fast-moving content such as sports, action movies, and games. You might be wondering what response time means; it is the time it takes a display to change from one color to another. In addition to its fast response time, the LG 55UK6300PUE also has an impressively low input lag. In case you don’t know, input lag is how fast the display responds to input signals – for example, signals from gamepads. A low input lag means that the display responds to signals fast. Hence, a TV with a low input lag will be quite responsive for playing games and using it as a PC monitor. Thankfully, the LG 55UK6300PUE can register input signals on the display at about 11.8 milliseconds. As a result of that, the LG 55UK6300PUE will be a good choice for gamers. To conclude this section, the LG 55UK6300PUE offers wide-angle viewing, its motion performance is outstanding, and it has an upscaling capability. However, it has a mediocre contrast ratio, no local dimming, and the display brightness is poor. Therefore, the LG 55UK6300PUE scores an eight in this display section of the review.

LG 55UK6300PUE Sound Features Review

In terms of sound, the LG 55UK6300PUE is fitted with a pair of 10-watt speakers. With a total of 20 watts of output power, the sound should be enough for an average room listening. However, if you have a large sitting room, the speakers might not produce a room-filling sound. Therefore, if that is the case, you should consider purchasing external speakers. Also, the LG 55UK6300PUE does not produce ample bass. As such, you might not get adequate bass when watching videos and listening to music. However, you can purchase a subwoofer to get the sufficient bass you need. Moreover, the insufficient bass of the TV is not entirely an issue to worry about. The reason is that the lack of bass permits the speakers to produce dialogue clarity. Therefore in TV programs with dialogue (conversations), you will be able to differentiate the sounds produced by different characters without difficulty. To enhance the sound performance of the LG 55UK6300PUE, LG has equipped it with some useful sound technologies. One of which is the DTS-HD Master Audio – which allows the speaker to deliver multichannel surround sound quality. Also, this TV supports Ultra Surround Audio technology that resonates with virtual sounds from the speakers. The consequence of the Ultra Surround Audio is that the TV assumes a multichannel setup to produce an immersive audio quality. At this point, let us proceed to the sound distortion performance of the LG 55UK6300PUE. To deliver on this, we will be discussing the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) test result of this TV. The LG 55UK6300PUE is equipped with a considerable number of ports. As I mentioned in the design section earlier, some of the ports are located on the left side of the TV, where they can be easily reached. Furthermore, some of the ports are located at the back of the TV. However, these ports will be difficult to reach when the TV is mounted on the wall. At this point, let us proceed to discuss the ports featured on the LG 55UK6300PUE. To begin with, the TV comes with three HDMI ports, one located on the back of the TV. Meanwhile, two of the HDMI ports are located on the left side of the TV. Just like most smart TVs, two of the HDMI ports support Audio Return Channel (ARC). Therefore, with the ARC-compatible HDMI port, you can link a soundbar to the TV using a single HDMI cord. Aside from the HDMI ports, the LG 55UK6300PUE also has two USB ports. One of the USB ports is located on the left side, while the other one is located at the back of the TV. In addition to that, the LG TV also has one composite AV port, an RF port, digital optical audio out port, and an Ethernet port. These ports are all located at the back of the TV. When it comes to wireless connectivity, the LG 55UK6300PUE has Bluetooth version 4.2 and 802.11ac wireless LAN. Because it is incomplete to discuss a TV’s connectivity features without talking about its remote control, let us delve right into that. The LG 55UK6300PUE supports a magic remote, but it comes with a standard AKB75375604 remote control. The remote control is a bit large, and it has a black plastic case with a brushed texture. Therefore, if you want to enjoy other advanced features that are missing from the standard remote, you can buy a magic remote. Thankfully, the magic remote comes with a mouse pointer. To wrap up this section, the LG 55UK6300PUE TV features a decent selection of ports. Also, although the remote control is a basic one, it still operates efficiently. All that being considered, I have decided to rate the LG 55UK6300PUE seven out of ten in this section of the review.

LG 55UK6300PUE Smart Features Review

Like most LG smart TVs, the LG 55UK6300PUE runs on LG’s proprietary operating system known as WebOS. This operating system ranks as one of the best smart TV OS out there. This is because it offers smooth performance giving the best experience when scrolling and navigating the interface. Also, the user interface is very friendly and easy to use. Not only that, but the speed at which you can switch between apps is almost instantaneous and quite impressive. Below the display, you will see the app ribbon and settings menu. The ribbon-style menu consists of some pre-installed apps. In addition to that, the WebOS LG content store has plenty of apps. Therefore, you can download any of your favorite apps that are not among the pre-installed apps. One more impressive thing about the LG 55UK6300PUE’s WebOS is that it supports screencasts. With the screencast, users can share content from their mobile to the TV. The only annoying thing about WebOS is that it has pop-up ads that can’t be opted out of. Aside from the pop-up ads, every other thing about the LG 55UK6300PUE WebOS is impressive. Another smart feature of the LG 55UK63 TV, which is one of its selling points, is that it is integrated with ThinQ AI. ThinQ AI is an artificial intelligence feature that allows you to make web searches and communicate with the TV. ThinQ AI uses virtual assistants like Google Assistant or Alexa as a means of communication with the TV via voice commands. Speaking of voice commands, all you need to do is pick up your remote and speak to it. For instance, you can tell it to switch to a different channel. However, this feature cannot work on the standard remote that ships with this TV. Hence, to use voice commands, you will need to purchase a magic remote separately. So far, we have said so much about the smart features of this TV. With all that I have said in this section, clearly, the LG 55UK6300PUE TV deserves a rating of eight in this section.

Generally, the LG 55UK6300PUE is an amazing television. Thanks to its 4K resolution, the TV display offers excellent picture quality. As regards motion performance, the LG 55UK6300PUE performed impressively. In addition to that, the TV comes with ThinQ AI technology, and its WebOS is very smooth and easy to use. The sound quality is also fair; even though it does not produce adequate bass, it produces clear dialogue. However, some features of this TV are not impressive such as its poor contrast ratio, lack of local dimming, and poor display brightness.
